#IAMFLAWSOME

“We are all unique, special, one of a kind, and there’s no one like us in this world.”

Flawsome- “an individual who embraces their flaws and knows their awesome regardless.”

Society has defined the word beautiful with a lot of restrictions. You can call yourself beautiful if you are skinny, tall, if you have white-fair skin, long hair, curvy lips and full of makeup with perfect eyebrows. If you don’t have everything of them, then you are not beautiful. “Society has placed all these strict standards of beauty upon people everywhere. They limit and define beauty in such specific term that it almost makes me wonder…”

I would always hear people say to me “You know what you are beautiful BUT…” or “If only you will lose weight you can be…” I can count with my bare hands how many people told me that I am beautiful without uttering the word BUT or discussing anything about my body.

I won’t say that I didn’t try to change myself and comply with the standards of beauty that the society has given me. Like any other girls, I tried taking diet pills that claim to be effective and the best, fad diets that I searched over the internet. But I ended up starving, less energetic and unhappy. NOW I’M DONE AND NEVER WILL I DO IT AGAIN.

I’m not going to apologize for not being skinny, I’m not going to apologize for not having white fair skin, I’m not going to apologize for everything that I do not have because now I learned how to love and value myself for who I am not for who I’m not.

Yes, I admit. I am fat, I am extra-large, I am obese or whatever word you want to use to describe my body. I have dark spots on my face, double chin, and my nose is not perfectly pointed. I have flabby tummy, I have big thighs and I don’t have thigh gaps.

But all these flaws NEVER MADE ME LESS OF A PERSON. And as cliché as it may sound, I LOVE IT and I LOVE ME. I accept all of my flaws and I embrace all my imperfections because they define who I am. And you know what’s the best part? I AM HAPPY. I am able to wear the kind of clothes I want to wear, I can freely express myself without hesitating and thinking that people might judge me. It’s not our job to please everyone, remember? Because no matter what we do we just cannot!

I never questioned God why he created me this way. “He knew the purpose He had for my life even before I was born and so He created me the way I am.” I always thank Him for everything, for giving me my family and friends who love me and who are always there for me no matter what.

At the end of the day, what matters most is that you remain true to yourself, you don’t have to pretend to be anybody else, and embrace all the imperfections you have and that the shape of your body has absolutely nothing to do with your self-worth.

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL JUST THE WAY YOU ARE.
